- Voice Effects — fun pitch-shift presets you can apply to a voice message before sending. Pick the effect while recording; the recipient hears the modified clip natively, no plugin required. Original audio never leaves your device — the effect is applied locally, then the result is encoded and sent over the same end-to-end-encrypted pipeline as a normal voice message.
- Recall your own burn-after-read messages — burn messages now follow the same recall rules as regular messages: tap or long-press your own burn message within 2 minutes of sending to recall it. Previously, once a burn message was sent it was locked.
- Burn-after-read picker now explains the rules — when you choose a burn duration, the picker shows you the exact behavior in plain language: the recipient's countdown only starts when they tap to open, and any unopened burn message auto-burns 36 hours after delivery.
- Clear chat history & faster delete — a UX overhaul of message management. Long-press any message and tap Delete right in the menu — no longer hidden behind multi-select. Want to wipe an entire conversation? Open the chat menu ⋮ in a private chat, or Group settings → Clear chat history in a group, to clear the local copy and reclaim space. Your delete is local only — the other side's copy is not affected.
Reliability
- Group message sync improvements — smoother catch-up when rejoining an active group after being offline.
- Group Polls list no longer crashes — opening Group settings → Polls while certain edge-case polls existed could crash the page; fixed.
- Multi-select copy — select multiple chat messages and copy them all at once (burn-after-read messages excluded for safety).
- File previews before download — the file size is shown in the chat bubble before you tap to download, and files larger than 100 MB are now caught at the picker rather than after upload starts.
- Tap the Messages tab again to jump — already on the Messages tab? Tap it again to jump straight to the first unread chat, or back to the top when nothing is unread.
- Desktop: Esc closes fullscreen video — the same key that closes most modal experiences now closes a fullscreen video too.
- Stability — clearing or deleting a poll message now also cleans up the underlying poll record (no orphaned polls in Group settings → Polls), recall markers for late-arriving messages live longer (14 days, up from 24 hours) so a message arriving after the original recall isn't shown by mistake, and various small fixes.
