Release Notes

Every version of BlindPost, what shipped and when.

1.7.1 Current release

Thorough account deletion, forwarding-order fix

Deleting your account now removes all local data, with no leftover files. Forwarding or copying several messages at once keeps them in their original order, blocked sends show a clearer reason, plus channel-specific wording and stability improvements.

1.7.0

Storage management, Quiet Hours, multiple videos per post

A new Storage screen shows how much space downloaded media uses, by type and by conversation. Browse everything in an album sorted by size, date or type, filter to what you want, then clear media per conversation, pick individual files, or free up cache — all on your device. Notifications gain Quiet Hours and a one-off Pause, plus a separate on/off switch for channels. Channel posts can now carry multiple videos, and the groups page becomes Groups & Channels with filters by ownership and type. Stability and privacy improvements throughout.

1.6.3

Real-time channel notifications, conversation tabs, smarter notifications

Channels you follow now notify you the moment a new post arrives, and tapping any notification opens that conversation directly. Your conversation list also splits into four tabs — All, Private, Groups and Channels — so you can focus on one kind of chat, with tab labels that stay on a single line in narrow and split-screen layouts. Notifications are smarter — you no longer get an alert for the chat you're already viewing, and incoming-call notifications are fully localized with a Hang up button so you can decline right from the notification. Background voice playback gets a Stop control in its notification, and voice and ringtones no longer keep playing after you close the app. Plus multi-select actions in chats are unified into clear, consistent icons, and stability and privacy improvements throughout.

1.6.1

Richer channel posts, reader-view outline, full-screen editor, more reliable calls

Channel posts now render rich formatting — headings, tables, nested lists, alignment and highlights — written in a source/HTML mode, with links shown in full and non-clickable. Long posts get an outline in reader view to jump straight between sections. A new full-screen editor handles long messages with a much higher length limit, and very long messages open in reader view so collapsing them no longer drags you to the bottom. Bold and other Markdown now render correctly right next to Chinese and other non-Latin text instead of showing the raw asterisks. Calls are more reliable: an incoming call shows even right after you open the app, a call continues on audio (and tells you why) when the camera isn't available, first-time video calls retry camera access, the screen stays on during video calls, audio keeps going when you switch apps mid-call, and a rare case where the call screen could stay stuck after an earlier call is fixed. Plus a smoother emoji panel, list-rendering and layout fixes, and stability and privacy improvements.

1.6.0

More reliable calls, longer slow-mode intervals, friend-request notifications

Voice and video calls set up their connection through BlindPost's own network instead of a third-party service, connect better across different networks, and recover on their own when a connection wobbles instead of dropping. The call screen reads in plain language and shows the other person's real avatar. Group slow mode adds 15- and 30-minute intervals and counts down for every message type. You get a push when someone sends you a friend request. Plus topic and channel polish, a video-playback fallback for devices that can't decode in-app, consistent media progress, and Linux fixes. You can also multi-select-forward channel posts (up to 9, source tag kept); a disbanded group or channel no longer leaves your join request hanging in My Applications; renaming reflects on your own device right away; and an accidentally dismissed announcement can be undone. You can also auto-burn incoming messages from a member on your own device for 15 minutes up to 7 days; it stays private to you and lifts on its own.

1.5.0

Channels, topic posts, comments, sponsor disclosure, source links, in-app reporting

A new chat type for one-to-many broadcasting. Topic posts carry title, Markdown body, up to 9 images, video, polls, and CTA buttons. Subscribers comment on topics and like both topics and comments. Sponsor disclosure renders a clear "Sponsored by …" banner separated from the body. Source links let creators credit where content came from, shown in each reader's own language. Channel owners get a 24-hour silent recall window. Long-press a member's avatar for the option to delete that user's messages locally. Long-press to report content in-app — an Acceptable Use Policy is published alongside.

1.3.3

Group auto-delete timer, composable burn modes, HEIC photos

Owners and admins set a chat-wide message lifetime that every member's messages follow automatically. Personal burn-after-read and burn-after-send can now coexist on the same chat, with each message using the stricter timer. The chat list masks burn-after-read content as 🔥 instead of revealing the text or filename. HEIC photos send reliably (previously rejected as "format not supported").

1.3.2

Tablet & phone-landscape layouts, desktop drag-and-drop, Windows notifications

Turn your phone sideways or open BlindPost on an iPad / Android tablet and chat list, conversation, and contacts lay out side by side. Drop images, videos, or documents straight into the chat window on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Windows now shows toast notifications for incoming messages, and switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data no longer leaves connections half-open.

1.3.1

Tablet & phone-landscape layouts, desktop drag-and-drop, Windows notifications

Turn your phone sideways or open BlindPost on an iPad / Android tablet and chat list, conversation, and contacts lay out side by side. Drop images, videos, or documents straight into the chat window on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Windows now shows toast notifications for incoming messages, and switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data no longer leaves connections half-open.

1.3.0

Burn After Send, group card invitations, Windows desktop client

Pick a time when you send and the message disappears on its own — pairs with the existing Burn After Read mode. Invite friends to any group with a tap-to-join card, open or approval mode. Audio files play inline, unsupported videos fall back to the browser, and BlindPost is now on Windows 10+ alongside iOS / Android / macOS / Linux.

1.2.1

Reliable group history, roster IDs, smoother scroll

Group chat history now loads reliably — fixes a case where a chat could appear empty or fail to load older messages. Member, admin, and invite-friend lists show short user IDs to disambiguate same-nickname people. Scroll position stays put when new messages arrive while you're reading history.

1.2.0

Voice Effects, recall burn-after-read, faster delete

Pitch-shift voice effects applied locally before sending. Recall your own burn-after-read messages within the same 2-minute window as regular messages. Burn-after-read picker now spells out the rules. Long-press → Delete in the menu (no multi-select needed), plus a new Clear chat history option in the private chat menu / Group settings.

1.1.0

On-device translation, image OCR, Opus voice

Long-press any message or image to translate or recognize text — runs fully on-device, message text never leaves for BlindPost or any third-party server. Voice messages ship as 16 kbps Opus, ~10× smaller with no audible loss. Backup & restore overhaul: live progress, 24-hour window, scrubs device-bound keys on import.

1.0.7

Device-to-device migration, 100,000-member groups

One-tap account migration across iPhone / Android / Mac / Linux with sealed local Wi-Fi transfer + mandatory preflight. Up to 100,000-member groups open as fast as 100-member ones — server stores no group data or member roster; clients load member info on demand from local cache.

1.0.6

Multi-image grid, group nicknames, 24h Prekey rotation

2–9 photos/videos collapse into one grid bubble. Per-group nicknames. Prekey auto-rotates daily. macOS real-time group messages fix. Public release notes at blindpost.app/releases/.

1.0.5

3×3 action menu, 28 reactions, Prekey fingerprint privacy

Redesigned long-press menu, expanded reactions, cross-device identity verification via Prekey fingerprint. Android Downloads via MediaStore. macOS Developer ID signed + notarized. Linux x86_64 (Beta).
